Mitzi Allen-Harris, MS, MA, NCC
Certified Professional Counselor
I am presently serving teens age 15 – adults who are looking for help with the many challenges they face as they mature and develop. I am here to support, empower and help my clients become the best person they can be. The benefits of my therapy services are: improved relationships with others, developing coping strategies, gain greater self awareness and to develop more productive, happy and successful lives. I have over 30 years of experience with special needs.
I became a professional counselor because as a Special Education teacher I could only help my students superficially. As a therapist I am able to help my clients in a profound way and this has been my life’s work. It was time to take my work to the next level.
In my practice I utilize creative alternatives such as: meditation, mindfulness meditation, breath work, yoga, tai chi, art, music, guided imagery, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Eco therapy. I have many years of experience with high school aged teens through adulthood who present with and without cognitive disorders. Specialty areas are school counseling, anxiety, ADHD, ASD, trauma and coping skills.
My certifications are: Nationally Certified Counselor, Certified School Counselor, Certified Special Education teacher, and Certified Eco Therapist. My degrees are from: SCSU New Haven, Fairfield University Fairfield,CT and The Graduate Institute Bethany, CT
My hobbies include but are not limited to: bike riding, hiking, yoga, kayaking and meditation.
